Braille Cards and Gifts is committed to protecting your privacy, and at the same time we endeavour to use any data we collect from you to provide the best possible service. This privacy policy describes how we collect and use your personal data.

We may occasionally modify this Privacy Policy, such variations becoming effective immediately upon posting to the website and by continuing to use the website, you will be deemed to accept any such variations.

We have done our best to ensure this document is as clear and as easy to understand as possible, however if you have any questions please contact us.

General Privacy Information

Braille Cards and Gifts takes reasonable care to comply with requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with regard to the personal information you supply on this site. The Braille Cards and Gifts site uses a security system that protects your information from unauthorised use.

This site collects personal data from you via web forms, and also via email addresses we provide so that you can contact us with enquiries and send us your details. You submit information using these methods voluntarily, and agree to the use of the personal data you provide as described in this policy. If you give us personal information about somebody else, such as a friend or colleague, we will assume you have their permission to do so and their data will also be subject to this policy. You can request a copy of all the data we hold about you by contacting us using the contact form on our website.

In short, we do not store credit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties unless required to do so for the proper functioning of our site (see the information relating to PayPal below) or if we are requested to do so to comply with any applicable laws/regulations. We will never use your data to send marketing related communications.

When you visit our site

When you browse the Braille Cards and Gifts website, our server automatically collects and logs your public IP address, browser type (e.g. Google Chrome, FireFox, Safari etc) and operating system (e.g. Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android etc). This information is only used for keeping statistics on the number of visits to the site, as well as security purposes. This information is never used to personally identify any individual.

When you place an order

When you add an item to your basket, we will then use cookies to remember the product you have added to your basket and the customisations you have made to that product if applicable. This is required in order for the checkout/payment process to function correctly. If you prefer not to allow the use of cookies, you can change the configuration of your browser to either warn you when you receive a cookie, or to automatically reject them. You may find, however, that disabling cookies means certain areas of the site do not function correctly.

During the checkout process, the following information will be collected:

  • First and last name
  • Address (required for billing purposes and for shipping your order)
  • Email Address (used to send your order confirmation and for us to contact you if necessary e.g. if there is a problem with your order)
  • Shipping address (if different from billing address)

The phone number field is optional during our checkout process. If you choose to enter it this will only be used as another way to contact you about your order if we need to. Please note that entering your phone number is optional on our system, but mandatory for PayPal. If you only enter your phone number on the PayPal site but not ours, we won’t see it.

This information, along with the item(s) you have purchased and the total price, will be passed to PayPal in order to carry out your payment.

Making a Payment

Once you have filled in all the required fields on our system, you will then be redirected to the PayPal website in order to complete your order. PayPal’s privacy policy applies when you use this payment method and we have no control over their site. Please browse the PayPal website for their privacy policy, or contact PayPal directly if you have any questions/concerns.

As all payment information is handled by PayPal, your payment details are not processed by our servers and we do not see any of your payment details, including card/bank account numbers or PayPal account details. All we see is that you paid via PayPal and whether or not the payment was successful.

After Your Order has Been Placed

Once your order has been placed, the details you provided will be retained securely on our system for a period of 12 months from the date of your most recent order with us, after which time all information will be deleted. During this 12 month period, your information will only be used for internal record keeping.
